New Car Seat Safety Laws in Michigan
The new laws align Michigan with national standards regarding booster seat use and rear/forward-facing car seat requirements. Motor vehicle accidents are the second leading cause of death for children under 18. The new laws take effect on April 2, 2025. A flier is attached for distribution. The new legislation updates child safety restraint requirements with these key provisions:
- Rear-facing car seats: Required for children until they are at least 2 years old or reach the manufacturer's height and weight limits.
- Forward-facing car seats: Required for children until they are 5 years old or reach the manufacturer's height and weight limits.
- Booster seats: Required for children until they are at least 8 years old or 4 feet 9 inches tall.

Congratulations to our Boys' Bowling Team and two individual bowlers headed to the State Competitions on Friday & Saturday! Our Boys' team took 2nd place in their regional match-up this past Friday to punch their card to State! Senior Connor Farrish took 5th place in the individual competition at regionals to send him to state, with junior Donovan Hernandez-Henning having a fantastic performance and placing 1st overall in the individual performance at Regionals! Good luck this Friday at State!

Attendance Raffle: Valentine's Week Edition! KV is holding another attendance raffle on Wednesday, February 12th, 2025! Students must be present and on time to ALL KV buildings first thing on 2/12/25 in the morning to be eligible for the raffle! Students CANNOT be tardy, so our 6-12th grade students need to be in class at 7:40 a.m., and elementary students need to be in class at 8:25 a.m. Raffle tickets will be handed out to students on Wednesday, with two winners drawn per building. Each winner will receive a prize basket!
Secondary Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up soon with NEW TIMES!
KHS, KMS, and 54th Street Academy conferences will be held from 3:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on 2/11/25 & 2/19/25.
Please note that KHS conferences will be held in classrooms on 2/11/25 and in the grand entrance on 2/19/25.
KHS parents will be able to schedule their conferences in ParentVUE! This is a new feature we are testing at KHS for this semester.
