Career Opportunities

West Michigan Health Careers Program:  This is an8-week program that occurs after school, so students must be able to attend the virtual and onsite meetings on their own. There will not be school transportation. This is a great opportunity for students serious about a career in the health field. An application needs to be filled out ASAP because space is limited, and the program is available to the entire county. 2025 West Michigan Health Careers Pipeline Program

  • Commitment: Mondays, 5:30-7:00 PM, January 27 – March 17, 2025. Full participation in the 8-week onsite and virtual program is expected.
  • Details: Undergraduate students in health-related fields will work with 9th and 10th-grade students interested in health careers. The program includes onsite (Secchia Center, Grand Rapids) and virtual (Zoom) sessions guided by MSU medical students and featuring health professionals, educational career paths, and interactive activities connected to health care.
  • Onsite Dates: February 3, February 17, and March 10 – includes interactive activities and dinner.
  • Virtual Requirements: Zoom connection with strong Wi-Fi for reliable audio.

Job Shadow Opportunities

Are you interested in healthcare careers but want to see what they are like before entering into healthcare? The University of Michigan-West offers job shadow opportunities for students who wish to learn more about healthcare!

This opportunity is not through the school but is a great chance for those who are interested in healthcare careers and a potential chance to meet people in the field. There are several forms that do need to be completed for the job shadow and there are certain criteria that must be met for the job shadow opportunity to occur. Kent ISD Student Job Board

The Kent ISD has created a Student Job Board that has jobs across Kent County for students in various careers. The jobs are intended to be entry-level positions.
